Position Title: Legal Assistant
Location: Brampton, Ontario
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support throughout all phases of litigation and Tribunal/Board hearings.
  • Manage the calendar of the Senior Partner efficiently.
  • Organize and maintain client-specific documentation.
  • Open, close, and oversee case files meticulously.
  • Maintain an organized filing system to ensure easy access to documents.
  • Prepare, format, and revise legal correspondence and documents.
  • Communicate effectively with opposing counsel, clients, courts, tribunals, and boards.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, including conference calls and virtual meetings.
  • Prepare and manage mail and courier packages.
Qualifications:
  • Completion of a post-secondary Law Clerk Diploma or Legal Assistant Certificate program.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in litigation support within a law office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Kofax Power PDF, and Dropbox.
  • Experience with PC Law, including docketing and billing processes.
  • Familiarity with Worldox document management system is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Skills:
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks to meet tight deadlines.
  • Capacity to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure while delivering high-quality work consistently.
  • Professional and efficient response to changes in schedules and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
