Director of Information Technology

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Information Technology to join our team at the Calgary Zoo. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the planning, implementation, and operation of all information technology systems and services.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the IT team in the development and implementation of technology strategies that align with the Calgary Zoo's business objectives.
- Oversee the management of IT budgets, including capital and operating expenses.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and partners to ensure timely and cost-effective support.
- Provide leadership and direction to the IT team, ensuring a culture of service excellence and collaboration.
- Manage and implement cybersecurity technologies and practices to protect the Calgary Zoo's information assets.
- Develop and implement IT service management processes to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure technology requirements are met and business goals are optimally supported.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in information technology, with a strong background in leadership and management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Master of Business Administration or equivalent is an asset.
- Proven ability to lead IT departments/teams providing services to a number of business/customer departments.
- Experience with implementing cybersecurity best practices and an ability to stay current in this rapidly evolving landscape.
- Ability to provide technology leadership to a multi-faceted organization, working collaboratively with executives/leaders, advocating and educating regarding technology issues, and promoting best technology practices across the organization.
- IT strategy development and implementation across a variety of technology domains.
- Proven track record of leading people and implementing complex projects.
- Proven record of customer service success and working with business partners.
- Financial/budget management expertise; business case development skills.
- An effective communicator, coach, motivator, collaborator, and problem solver.
