Lead Design Architect

Job Summary
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Technical Services and Procurement Branch, you will play a critical role in ensuring the design excellence of our infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct design reviews on consultant project submissions, coordinating technical input and balancing priorities of time and cost with quality and innovation.
- Lead and promote the transfer of knowledge to stakeholders regarding the importance of appropriate design responses that effectively and responsibly meet the needs of Albertans.
- Transfer knowledge of building technologies and methodologies to stakeholders and industry.
- Anticipate and respond to clients' evolving needs and contribute to the technical centre of excellence for the department, partner ministries, health authorities, school boards, and post-secondary institutions in providing leading-edge architectural guidance, research, and technical development.
- Maintain and offer professional practice and industry best practice advice to clients and stakeholders, including project teams and senior leadership.
- Conduct architectural Design Reviews on project submissions to confirm compliance with applicable codes, standards, and guidelines, including the Technical Design Requirements for Alberta Infrastructure Facilities (TDR).
- Advocate, educate, and communicate in graphic, written, and verbal forms to a variety of clients, stakeholders, and design/technical subject matter experts.

About the Role
This senior position supports the Director in strategic planning for the section and in the absence of the Director, represents the section in meetings with senior government or client officials.
