Job Summary:

BC Place is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Services Supervisor to join our Event Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of our facility, as well as providing exceptional customer service to our clients and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Environmental Services staff, ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility, interior and exterior.
  • Represent the facility and act as a management representative to clients, show managers, and the general public.
  • Monitor and enforce BC Place policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for staff and guests.
  • Conduct site inspections prior to, during, and after events, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and provide guidance to Environmental Services staff, monitoring staffing coverage during events and redeploying as necessary.
  • Direct, monitor, coach, mentor, and supervise employees' performance and success, identifying and assessing training needs and maintaining up-to-date training records.
  • Collaborate with Event Managers to orient clients and exhibitors, attend employee briefings, and complete daily reports and necessary documentation.
  • Deal with customer issues related to Environmental Services, assisting in staff recruitment, orientation, and job-specific training.
  • Utilize a scheduling application to document event-related work and scheduling items.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma, with post-secondary certificate or diploma in Building Operations.
  • Environmental Services or Housekeeping Certification and/or Building Service Worker Certification is preferred.
  • Valid WHMIS certification is required.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in building maintenance, facility management, or Environmental Services.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and supervising unionized staff is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - Word and Excel; knowledge of EBMS and ABI is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service and guest experience.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $30.71
