Job Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Services Supervisor to oversee our dedicated Housekeeping team.

The Environmental Services Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for all individuals within the facility. This position involves supervising a team to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities of the Environmental Services Supervisor include:

Leading a team of over sixteen (16) Housekeeping Aides and Lead Hands, organizing staff, resources, and daily operations to adhere to established cleanliness standards. Managing the procurement, monitoring, and inventory of Environmental Services supplies, maintaining accurate reports, overseeing expenditures, and preparing budget forecasts. Executing a variety of cleaning tasks, including but not limited to: thorough dusting; mopping of floors, both dry and wet; maintaining and refinishing floors using appropriate tools; cleaning and disinfecting ceilings, walls, vents, restrooms, beds, furniture, and equipment; collecting and disposing of regular and biomedical waste; responding to spills; making beds; and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the facility in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

About Environmental Services:

The role of Environmental Services extends beyond traditional housekeeping duties. It is essential for maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors through effective medical cleaning and disinfection practices. The team collaborates closely with infection control and patient care units to ensure thorough cleaning of both clinical and non-clinical areas, including patient rooms, offices, restrooms, and communal spaces. Responsibilities also include waste management, vacuuming, floor polishing, and comprehensive disinfection of surfaces.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of Grade 10, accompanied by three (3) years of relevant experience, including six (6) months in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid BC Driver's License is required for local travel.

Knowledge & Skills

Proven ability to supervise effectively. Physical capability to perform the duties associated with this role. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in interpersonal relations. Excellent organizational skills. Competence in operating relevant equipment.

Additional Information

Work hours, including days off and work areas, may be adjusted based on operational needs and in accordance with the Collective Agreement and applicable laws. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
