Position Title: Early Childhood Educator
Location: YMCA of Greater Vancouver
Terms: Full-time, Temporary (35 hours/week)
Shift: Monday to Friday, shifts 7:00am-6:00pm rotating shifts
Salary: $23.20 per hour for ECE License. Plus an additional $6 per hour for Licensed ECE's as per the Provincial Government's Wage Enhancement Initiative
Reports To: Team Leader, Child Care

Nature & Scope:

We are looking for a compassionate and innovative Early Childhood Educator to ensure a secure and stimulating environment for all children. Utilizing the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, the educator will design and implement activities tailored to the interests and developmental stages of the children.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional care and creative programming for children.
  • Foster meaningful and positive relationships with children and their families.
  • Collaborate with your team to establish a supportive and safe atmosphere for both staff and families.
  • Implement high-quality, age-appropriate programs aligned with the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum.
  • Ensure active supervision at all times and assist in transitions between play areas.
  • Utilize our parent communication app (Weemarkable) for daily updates and communication.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment in all program areas and common spaces, adhering to enhanced cleaning protocols.
  • Comply with all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL), and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Basic ECE certification from a recognized program in British Columbia.
  • Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) License is an asset.
  • Special Needs Educator (SNE) certification is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Any training related to child growth and development is beneficial.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certification required (can be obtained within 30 days of start date).
  • Three professional reference checks to be completed.
  • Successful candidates will need to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months preceding your start date.
