Key Responsibilities:

As an Aquatic Safety and Instruction Specialist, your duties will include:

  • Adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Acting as a representative of the YMCA, embodying our core values in all interactions.
  • Performing lifeguard duties during recreational swims and instructional sessions.
  • Delivering effective swim instruction to individuals and groups.
  • Monitoring participants closely to ensure safety and readiness to assist in emergencies.
  • Participating in ongoing training and development sessions.
  • Documenting participant progress and communicating with guardians.
  • Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the aquatic environment.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Current certifications in Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard - Pool.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certifications.
  • YMCA Swim Instructor or equivalent certification.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A current Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.
