Position Overview: The S&T Laboratory Operations division is seeking a dedicated Project Management Intern to assist in overseeing Control Accounts and report directly to the Manager of the S&T Laboratory Operations Branch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of Project Control Coordinators to ensure budget adherence and monitor expenditures while ensuring accurate monthly reporting of costs and Facility Usage.
  • Collaborate with Licensed Facilities and Laboratories to develop tailored Facility Usage templates that align with ongoing projects.
  • Support a team of Project Control Coordinators in creating project schedules, recognizing necessary timeframes, budgets, and available resources.
  • Conduct Monte Carlo analyses on projects and demonstrate the ability to review and adjust schedules based on outcomes.
  • Review commercial contracts and provide insights regarding project schedules and cost implications.
  • Deliver project controls expertise, tools, and techniques to meet PMO / CNL expectations.
  • Guide project management in a multi-project environment, focusing on integration, scope, time, cost, quality, resource, communications, and risk management.
  • Analyze project performance, identify variances, monitor trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide project planning support and subject matter expertise in work breakdown structure, cost management, schedule management, and risk management.
  • Lead the implementation of core planning and control processes, including training staff on their usage.
  • Oversee the development of schedules, resource allocation, and cost plans using project management techniques.
  • Monitor the progress of all assigned program work and provide management with necessary information to control project delivery.
  • Facilitate the creation of reports and presentations for project/program updates.
  • Coordinate monthly reporting for projects/programs and support ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Ensure the quality of project controls output aligns with PMO requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in employee performance reviews and develop training plans to enhance team skills.
  • Recommend policy improvements and respond to situations to mitigate short-term risks in accordance with established guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree or college diploma in Project Management, Engineering, Economics, or Business Administration.
  • Three to five years of leadership or supervisory experience in project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Effective team leadership and interpersonal skills to build relationships across various organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and tools recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
  • Advanced knowledge in project controls areas, including cost control, scheduling, and change management.
  • Familiarity with project management techniques such as Critical Path method and Earned Value Technique, along with proficiency in Primavera P6 software.
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC) is required.
