Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to join our team at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing complex technical projects from inception to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Planning and Management
    • Develop and implement project plans, including objectives, scope, timelines, and budgets.
    • Coordinate and manage project resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment.
    • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks and issues.
  • Technical Leadership
    • Provide technical guidance and oversight to project teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
    • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, and compliance matrices.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables meet requirements.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management
    • Communicate project status and progress to stakeholders, including project sponsors, team members, and external partners.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
    • Provide technical expertise and support to stakeholders, as required.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Ensure project deliverables meet quality and compliance requirements, including regulatory and industry standards.
    • Develop and implement quality assurance and control processes, as required.
    • Monitor and report on project compliance, identifying and mitigating risks and issues.
    Requirements
    • Education and Experience
      • Four-year university degree in Engineering or a related field.
      • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in project management, including experience in managing complex technical projects.
    • Skills and Knowledge
      • Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles and practices, including conceptual planning and all phases of design.
      • Experience in preparing design documents in support of regulatory submissions.
      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
      • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications and procedures, governmental regulation, policies, and procedures, and technical reports.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
      Assets
      • Professional Certifications
        • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
      • Technical Expertise
        • Knowledge of Human Factors and/or Fire Protection and/or Pressure Boundary Applications.
        • Strong writing skills and the ability to distill complicated technical documents into concise summaries.
        • Familiarity with project and contract management.
        • Experience working at a licensed nuclear facility.
        • Knowledge in the preparation of design documentation in support of regulatory submissions.
        • Knowledge of Federal Impact Assessment Act requirements for large capital projects.
        • Knowledge of CSA standards (e.g., CSA N292 series, CSA N285 series, CSA N289 series, CSA B51, etc.).
        • Knowledge of nuclear quality requirements (e.g., CSA N286, N299) and other industrial quality standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO).
        • Experience in large capital infrastructure projects with multiple stakeholders.
