Job Title: Project Engineer/Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer/Officer to join our team at the Nuclear Waste Management Organization. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring assigned technical projects/contracts from inception to final acceptance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage external design agencies for engineering design oversight contracts related to Human Factors Engineering, Pressure Boundary Applications, Fire Protection Engineering, and other technical services.
  • Develop project execution strategies and plans, including objectives, scope definition, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Provide advice and guidance to internal stakeholders and external contractors on project requirements and progress.
  • Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders and other designated contacts to understand competing priorities.
  • Prepare compliance matrices to ensure all project requirements are met.
  • Meet with consultants and contractors to review progress, address deviations, and obtain cooperation.
  • Develop reports on project status and progress, including variance reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Four-year university degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in full-cycle projects and contract management, including complex technical projects from concept to operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contract and project management principles and practices, including conceptual planning and all phases of design.
  • Direct experience preparing design documents in support of regulatory submissions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and experience in the preparation of design input and design output documentation.

Assets:

  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of Human Factors, Fire Protection, and/or Pressure Boundary Applications.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to distill complicated technical documents into concise summaries.
  • Familiarity with project and contract management, and experience working at a licensed nuclear facility.
