Position Overview:

The Senior Operations Analyst plays a pivotal role in conducting intricate analyses related to operational functions that significantly influence physical damage claims expenditures and organizational resources. Utilizing financial, statistical, and business-oriented methodologies, you will identify trends, project future costs, and address business challenges. This role involves steering the planning and execution of business studies aimed at resolving multifaceted business issues and proposing solutions for the enhancement of reporting or analytical products, processes, and services.

This position is integral to the Operations division, requiring leadership and collaboration across various lines of business while maintaining exceptional analytical capabilities.

Your responsibilities will encompass the formulation and upkeep of both short-term and long-term corporate and operational metrics, along with complex analyses pertaining to multiple lines of business within the Operations division.

As a key contributor to project teams, you will work towards achieving project and corporate strategic objectives, potentially taking on a leadership role to oversee the contributions of other analysts and project resources from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate solutions for intricate business challenges through comprehensive business analysis, root cause examination, cost-benefit evaluations, and feasibility studies.
  • Design and implement data collection and analysis strategies for various lines of business within the Operations division (claims, adjusting, estimating, fraud prevention, salvage, customer service, driver testing, vehicle repair, broker support) utilizing multiple data sources to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Generate clear and concise reports/presentations that articulate findings and recommendations to senior directors within the Operations division and other key stakeholders in the senior leadership team.
  • Guide the development of business requirements and specifications for system or product modifications and enhancements.
  • Conduct workload and workforce forecasting to ensure alignment with customer demands and resource availability.
  • Support the development of business cases by providing specialized knowledge and expertise, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and evaluating responses to requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Design sophisticated analyses that align with directorate, division, or corporate objectives aimed at operational enhancement.
  • Participate in or lead divisional, directorate, or departmental projects such as capacity modeling, key performance indicators, policy assessments, cross-jurisdictional studies, software modernization, and legislative adaptations.
  • Represent operational and analytical perspectives to vendors, other jurisdictions, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Develop business cases and draft RFPs for systems and tools that facilitate the evolution of operations across various lines of business; engage in RFP evaluations and negotiate service level agreements.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of business lines to guide leaders in adopting new analytical and business intelligence tools, such as dashboards and KPIs, to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Create line of business metrics with an enterprise-level perspective and conduct analyses related to the overall organization.
  • Engage with leadership to pinpoint areas of opportunity where analysis and exploration can foster improved metric development, utilizing innovative techniques or technologies.
  • Review corporate and team objectives to ensure alignment with work outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying training and development needs for staff to meet organizational objectives.
  • Keep leadership and management apprised of potential complex or sensitive customer issues, escalating as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Certificate or diploma in Business Analysis or a related field.
  • Seven years of progressive experience in analysis, including two years of relevant experience in the insurance sector.

OR
  • Degree in Commerce, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Five years of progressive experience in analysis, including two years of relevant experience in the insurance sector. Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with SQL or other query languages and a basic understanding of general data architecture.
  • Coursework in statistics is advantageous.
  • Experience in system testing, project management, or financial analysis is beneficial.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
  • Collaborate with both users and system developers to ensure requirements are comprehended and needs are satisfied.
  • Advanced knowledge of data, analytics, and reporting concepts pertinent to corporate products and services.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis and software tools such as R, Python, SPSS, or SPSS Modeler is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of Lean and Agile methodologies for process improvement and project management is beneficial.
