Position Overview

The Public Credit Group operates within the Credit Investments (CI) division at CPP Investments, overseeing a substantial portfolio valued at $38 billion. This division is dedicated to managing both public and private credit investments on a global scale. CI is responsible for delivering debt financing solutions across various credit structures, including term loans, high-yield bonds, mezzanine financing, structured products, and more, catering to borrowers across diverse sectors.

We are seeking an intern to join the Public Credit Group for a four-month internship. Candidates currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and expected to graduate in the future are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize programming expertise in Python and SQL to develop proprietary analytical tools and improve existing risk reporting and performance analysis frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with Public Credit portfolio managers and quantitative analysts to refine existing models and introduce new functionalities.
  • Monitor credit markets and the macroeconomic landscape to assist in research and generate trade ideas.

Engage in ad-hoc projects that involve analysis and recommendations on portfolio management, market dynamics, macroeconomic factors, and investment prospects.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate is pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in mathematics, engineering, business, economics, or computer science.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, SQL, R, VBA, and HTML is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a keen interest in a collaborative and dynamic work environment.
  • A genuine interest in finance and investment management.
  • Experience in database management (MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle) is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence.
