Job Overview

As a vital member of the Halton Healthcare team, the Registered Nurse will specialize in Level 2A Maternal Newborn Care. This role encompasses comprehensive care for pregnancies of 34 weeks and beyond, including the management of uncomplicated twin pregnancies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing prenatal assessments and delivering care throughout the stages of labor and birth, which includes both vaginal and Caesarean deliveries. The position requires versatility to work across various areas of the unit, focusing on maternal and newborn care within the LBRP model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care in the Labour/Birth/Recovery/Post-Partum (LBRP) environment for low-risk women.
  • Utilize dedicated postpartum rooms and an operative birthing suite for patient care.
  • Support family involvement through a child-friendly environment designed for comfort and accessibility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and health protocols, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in perinatal nursing.
  • Completion of relevant certifications, including Obstetric and Breastfeeding Certificates.
  • Proficiency in performing vaginal exams during labor and in venipuncture and IV placement.
  • Commitment to Family-Centered Care and ongoing professional development.

Work Schedule: Temporary Full-time position with rotating 12-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
