Our Musselwhite Mine, located in Northwest Ontario, is a fly-in, fly-out operation that promotes equal opportunities for all employees. We're seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Senior Rock Mechanics Specialist, reporting directly to the Mine Engineering Superintendent. Your responsibilities will include: Key Responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining the site Ground Control Management Plan.
  • Reviewing and recommending stope sizes, shapes, and sequencing, with significant input to the production schedule.
  • Conducting numerical models and interpreting outcomes to determine and estimate future rock mass behavior.
  • Updating, maintaining, and analyzing the stress model of the mine.
  • Reviewing and updating ground control policies.
  • Liaising with operations and making ground support recommendations.
  • Collecting and analyzing data relating to strength, stability, and stress regime of rock mass.
  • Working on continuous business improvement projects within the Rock Mechanics group.
  • Maintaining, optimizing, and expanding the ESG micro-seismic system, including interpretation and analysis of data.
  • Maintaining, optimizing, and expanding the Newtrax instrumentation network, including interpretation and analysis of data.
  • Sharing supervision responsibilities of the Rock Mechanics team with the cross-shift Senior Rock Mechanic.
Requirements
  • B.Sc. Degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering.
  • Preference for applicants with a P. Eng Designation in Canada.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Rock Mechanics.
  • Expert in installation and operation of ground control instrumentation.
  • Project coordination and project costing experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical, safe, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in 3D numerical modeling computer software (Map3D).
  • Familiarity with Deswik CAD would be advantageous.
  • Supervisory experience would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening) and leadership skills.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members with a diverse mix of cultures.
Working Conditions

The work schedule for this position is 14 days on, and 14 days off, working 12-hour days.
