Clinical Psychologist for Youth Services

As a key member of the team, you will provide essential psychological services to children and adolescents facing mental health and substance use challenges. Your role will involve supporting community care providers with the necessary information, guidance, and resources to ensure effective and timely care for young individuals. The ideal candidate will exhibit flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to their work. Attention to detail, self-motivation, problem-solving skills, and initiative are crucial for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and oversee the delivery of psychological services for designated programs or patient groups, collaborating with the Head of Psychology and relevant management.
  • Engage in activities that facilitate coordination among interdisciplinary teams for effective service delivery.
  • Conduct a wide range of psychodiagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy, behavior management, and parent support groups.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes, providing insights to the treatment team.
  • Serve as a primary contact for treatment teams and individuals associated with specific patient groups.
  • Offer recommendations for program development and evaluation, including refining referral criteria and case documentation processes.
  • Advocate for departmental services to the public and professional communities as needed.
  • Provide expert advice to colleagues and healthcare professionals regarding psychological assessments and treatment options.

Qualifications

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
  • Doctoral-level training in child clinical psychology, pediatric neuropsychology, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant experience in clinical settings focused on children, adolescents, and psychodiagnostic evaluations.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Competence in setting priorities and achieving both short-term and long-term goals.
  • Proficiency in teaching and providing guidance.
  • Advanced computer skills for report writing and data management.
