This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Thompson Rivers University team as an E-Learning Support Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality digital learning environments, working closely with instructional designers and other stakeholders to ensure seamless course delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Course Development and Maintenance: Utilize document languages such as XML, HTML, and Wiki Markup to format and structure course content, adhering to TRU design standards and templates.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with instructional designers to determine presentation, environment, model, and tools for course delivery.
- Course Compilation and Review: Compile courses using established platforms and presentations, and complete peer review of formatted materials to ensure quality.
- Technical Support and Maintenance: Liaise with staff and faculty, collaborate with peers, and maintain technical integrity of course materials within development and live delivery platforms.
- File Management and Security: Maintain TRU file management and version control standards, and ensure security of sensitive course material and digital assets.
- Technology Evaluation and Improvement: Test and evaluate new learning technologies for presentation platforms against established criteria, and identify opportunities for workflow improvements.
- Education: Bachelor degree in a related program such as Computing Science, Digital Arts and Design, or Educational Technology.
- Experience: Two years of directly related experience.
- Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency in digital publishing, hand-coding HTML, CSS, and web development applications such as Wiki Markup, Word Press, and Acrobat Pro; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
