About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Systems Application Specialist to join our team at Ainsworth, a subsidiary of GDI. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for executing the supply and installation of various security system projects, working closely with our Project Manager and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with project turnover meetings to gather information for engineering design and development.
  • Design and develop panel layouts, network layouts, and wiring diagrams using Ainsworth engineering tools.
  • Select materials, including access control modules and peripheral devices, to meet project requirements and specifications.
  • Develop project commissioning checklists for startup, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Complete assignments with a focus on high customer satisfaction, scope and specification compliance, and budgetary guidelines.
  • Program and functionally test all components within a complete security system installation, including Card Access Control, CCTV, Real-Time Locating System, and Intrusion Detection.
  • Test programming to ensure compliance with specified sequences of operation and system performance aligns with industry standards and project specs.
  • Maintain personal accessibility and communicate with field technicians, office sales, and Ainsworth employees, as well as clients and vendors.
  • Work with the Project Manager to ensure timely issuance of as-built documents and project-specific closeout documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of various security solutions, including hardware, software, tools, and applications.
  • Analyze and advise owners and contractors on security application strategy and available options.
  • Locate and use resources on issues beyond personal technical expertise.
  • Participate in team and engineering meetings, contribute input and feedback to management team members, and drive improvements in company processes and methods.
  • Establish and maintain a positive team relationship with co-workers and provide the benefit of experience and positive feedback.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Security System Installation, Design, and Commissioning.
  • Progressive experience in a technical role within the integrated security or low voltage industry.
  • Strong understanding of Security System Solutions to accurately appraise existing systems components, evaluate general site conditions, and recommend technical solutions.
  • Experience working with other consultants and contractors and coordinating integrated projects.
  • Knowledgeable regarding governing building, electrical, and mechanical codes, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.
  • Excellent understanding of the entire Building Technology offering.
  • Ability to provide strong leadership skills to support direct and indirect reports and broader business directives.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, technical, and financial abilities.
  • Working experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software programs and energy-related tools.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work in a complex fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write in both French and English.
  • Vendor Certification in low voltage systems.
  • Valid TQ certification.
  • Previous experience leading installations and design at the site level.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Background check and security clearance.
