About the Role:

Ainsworth is seeking a highly skilled Security Systems Application Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for executing the supply and installation of various security system projects, including engineering design, programming, commissioning, and client training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project managers and sales teams to gather information for engineering design and project execution.
  • Assist in designing and developing panel layouts, network layouts, and wiring diagrams using Ainsworth engineering tools.
  • Select materials, including access control modules and peripheral devices, to meet project requirements, specifications, and customer standards.
  • Develop project commissioning checklists for project startup, checkout, and commissioning.
  • Ensure high PM/Customer satisfaction, scope & specification compliance, and budgetary guidelines are met.
  • Program and functionally test all components within a complete security system installation, including Card Access Control, CCTV, Real-Time Locating System, and Intrusion Detection.
  • Test programming to ensure compliance with specified sequences of operation and system performance aligns with industry standards and project specs.
  • Maintain personal accessibility and communicate with field technicians, office sales, and Ainsworth employees, as well as clients and vendors.
  • Work with project managers to ensure timely issuance of as-built documents and project-specific close-out documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of various security solutions, including hardware, software, tools, and applications.
  • Analyze and advise owners and contractors on appropriate security application strategy and available options.
  • Locate and use resources on issues beyond personal technical expertise.
  • Participate in team and engineering meetings, contribute input and feedback, and drive improvements in company processes and methods.
  • Establish and maintain positive team relationships and provide benefit of experience and positive feedback to coworkers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technician/Technologist Diploma and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Security System Installation, Design, and Commissioning.
  • Progressive experience in a technical role within the integrated security or low voltage industry.
  • Strong understanding of Security System Solutions to accurately appraise existing systems components, evaluate general site conditions, and recommend the most applicable system or technical solutions.
  • Experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of integrated projects.
  • Knowledgeable regarding governing building, electrical, and mechanical codes, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.
  • Excellent understanding of the entire Building Technology offering.
  • Strong leadership skills to support direct and indirect reports and broader business directives.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, technical, and financial abilities.
  • Working experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software programs and energy-related tools.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Display strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work in a complex fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write in both French and English.
  • Vendor Certification in low voltage systems preferred.
  • Valid TQ certification preferred.
  • Previous experience leading installations and design at the site level preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Background check and security clearance.
