The Dietary Aide plays a vital role in our community, impacting the lives of residents and fostering a sense of connection and warmth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to proper food handling techniques to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Date, label, and store food properly to maintain quality and freshness.
- Keep work areas clean and organized, completing scheduled cleaning duties to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
- Maintain the cleanliness of floors in food preparation, dish room, and storage areas to prevent contamination and ensure a clean environment.
- Support optimal food service to meet the needs of residents, adhering to infection control, quality management, legislative requirements, and organizational standards.
- Assist in meal preparation, serving meals and beverages, and following residents' diets and food preferences to ensure a personalized experience.
- Take orders for menu choices from residents, following their preferences and dietary needs.
- Set and clear tables in dining rooms, washing and sanitizing tables, chairs, and serveries to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and ensure the smooth operation of food services.
Requirements:
- Maintain a current Safe Food Handler's Certificate to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Be familiar with correct procedures for food service and handling to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Operate institutional cooking equipment, such as dishwashers, conveyor toasters, and meat slicers, to support food preparation and service.
- Have effective verbal and written English communication skills to interact with residents and colleagues.
- Pass a Vulnerable Sector Check (applicable to Ontario applicants) and a Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants) to ensure a safe and secure environment.
