We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join our team at COB_4228 Bird General Contractors Ltd. as a key member of our estimating department.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to ongoing projects to ensure their objectives are met.
- Examine and/or calculate/estimate quantities, develop material price lists, labor costs, equipment costs, etc.
- Examine project specifications and contracts.
- Examine construction drawings and specifications to determine structure arrangements, systems, and material needs.
- Examine and/or prepare work statements and solicit prices from suppliers.
- Examine and/or prepare bid documents, proposals, schedules, and estimates.
- Examine historical data such as purchase orders, subcontractors, productivity analysis reports, etc.
- Compile summary reports to develop guidelines and data for future work and estimates.
- Assist in presentations and proposal reviews with clients.
- Keep estimation files up-to-date for backup purposes.
- Assist in monitoring budgets and estimates against actual cost data.
- Support and promote the company's quality assurance program.
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Technology, or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a heavy civil construction environment.
- Thorough knowledge of excavation, concrete, mining, and heavy equipment operations.
- Deep understanding of estimate preparation and budgeting.
- Experience with contracts and collective agreements.
- Excellent administrative skills, including exceptional organization, communication, and people management skills.
- Strong computer skills, including excellent knowledge of planning software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, and estimation software such as InEight, Bid2win, HCSS, etc.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word, and the ability to prepare professional proposals and presentations.
- Experience working in a unionized environment and under collective agreements.
- Knowledge of standard health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements and practices in the construction industry.
- Valid driver's license.
- Fluency in English and French is considered an asset.
