Job Overview

SAIT's Athletics and Recreation department is seeking part-time staff to enhance our services as Campus Safety Officers. These officers play a crucial role in fostering student engagement and supporting the competitive spirit that enriches the SAIT experience. The Campus Centre includes various fitness facilities, a temporary gymnasium, and an ESports studio, all of which require diligent oversight and assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction
  • Front desk reception and communication with stakeholders
  • Monitoring access to the Campus Centre, providing audio support, and managing equipment
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to all visitors
  • Handling reception tasks, including phone and online inquiries
  • Setting up rooms for bookings, which may involve moving light furniture
  • Assisting members and addressing their inquiries
  • Managing laundry services and locker room duties as needed
  • Overseeing inventory for all sports programs and activities
  • Setting up and dismantling equipment as required by users
  • Maintaining a professional appearance and communication style
  • Resolving conflicts and escalating issues when necessary
  • Managing access and processing membership reports
  • Facility Management
  • Cleaning and maintaining fitness equipment
  • Stocking and sanitizing fitness studios and lifting areas
  • Validating student cards and memberships
  • Ensuring a safe and welcoming environment by managing access
  • Performing minor cleaning in specific areas as needed
  • Monitoring and servicing the ESports studio
  • Compliance and Safety
  • Handling financial transactions and petty cash
  • Processing registrations and promoting activities
  • Managing equipment rentals and inventory
  • Identifying and addressing health and safety risks
  • Adhering to workplace respect standards
  • Collaborating as part of a diverse team of part-time staff
  • Supporting various activity programs, including drop-in sessions
  • Technical Proficiency
  • Understanding fitness equipment and related operating procedures
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Providing orientations for fitness equipment
  • Responding to first aid situations as required
  • Complying with health and safety regulations
  • Team Collaboration
  • Assisting with facility bookings and customer interactions
  • Supporting the Facilities Management department as needed
  • Enhancing program support as a member of the Trojans Athletics & Recreation team
  • Performing other collaborative tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in customer service
  • First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of sports regulations is beneficial
  • Familiarity with the Campus Centre layout and rules
  • Ability to interact tactfully with the public and students
  • Capability to identify and report unusual occurrences
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions
  • Preference given to students
