Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Childcare Centre Manager to lead our team at Sentient HR Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management to our childcare and before and after school programs.

Key ResponsibilitiesChild Programming and Parent Engagement
  1. Develop and implement effective child programming strategies to meet the needs of individual children and the group.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with parents through regular communication and engagement.
  3. Manage the child enrollment process, including processing applications, conducting interviews, and maintaining accurate records.
  4. Ensure compliance with licensing requirements and regulations, including maintaining accurate staff-to-child ratios and ensuring the health and safety of children.
  5. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the well-being and safety of children, including emergency procedures and first aid protocols.
  6. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to develop and implement programs for PA Days, March Break, and Summer Camp.
  7. Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make recommendations for improvement.
Staff Supervision
  1. Supervise and support a team of early childhood educators, including providing coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
  2. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
  3. Develop and implement staff training programs to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and regulations.
  4. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to develop and implement policies and procedures for staff supervision and management.
  5. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring fair treatment of staff.
Operations
  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the childcare centre, including supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with licensing requirements and regulations.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the centre.
  3. Collaborate with the Assistant Director to develop and implement programs for staff development and training.
  4. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring the health and safety of children and staff.
RequirementsEducation and Experience
  1. Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  2. Minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory capacity within a childcare environment and before and after school program.
  3. Five or more years of experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, working in an integrated setting with children of different abilities and ages (infant to school-age).
Qualifications and Conditions of Employment
  1. Current Red Cross or Standard St. John Ambulance certificate in First Aid and Infant and Child CPR Certificate.
  2. Certification with the College of Early Childhood in good standing.
  3. Working knowledge of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA).
  4. A satisfactory Vulnerable Screening Police Check which is to be resubmitted every five (5) years or at the discretion of the Executive Director.
Knowledge and AbilitiesKey Competencies
  1. Ability to work independently and make decisions regarding crises and difficult situations based on knowledge of the CCEYA, public health, and the policies and procedures of the childcare centre.
  2. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  3. Excellent organizational skills and initiative.
  4. Creative problem-solving skills.
  5. Able to work varied shifts; lead/participate in staff meetings after-hours; and participate in parent engagement events and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) during evening hours.
