About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary team at Wood Street Centre Residential Treatment. The successful candidate will provide a range of services to youth, including assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual needs.

The Psychologist will work collaboratively with a team of professionals, including youth workers, social workers, teachers, registered nurses, occupational therapists, and consulting psychiatrists, to provide stabilization, assessment, and treatment services to children and youth with complex behavioral and emotional challenges.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a recognized Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or School Psychology, and registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of relevant experience, with a strong background in mental health and an understanding of the impact of childhood trauma.

The successful candidate will possess excellent assessment skills, comfort with diagnostics utilizing DSM5 criteria, and competency in psychoeducational assessment. They will also have the ability to establish models of care based on programming needs, evaluate progress, and adapt therapy as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of individual needs for youth with complex behavioral and emotional challenges
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide stabilization, assessment, and treatment services
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including psychotherapy and behavioral interventions
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to inform treatment planning and program development
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to team members
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Recognized Master's degree in Clinical Psychology or School Psychology
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in mental health
