Role Overview:

As a Welding Supervisor at Pride Bodies Ltd., a Wabtec Company located in Cambridge, Ontario, you will oversee a skilled team of Welders. Your collaboration with fellow Supervisors and the Production Manager will be crucial in meeting customer requirements and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork, and Leadership.
  • Drive production outcomes by setting clear job expectations, planning and assigning tasks, evaluating job performance, and providing coaching and accountability.
  • Foster teamwork and provide solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Welding Supervisor (CWB W.47.1) is required or a willingness to obtain it.
  • Certification as a Welding Supervisor (CWB W.47.2) is required or a willingness to obtain it.
  • Proficient in welding with valid CWB tickets for both W.47.1 steel and W.47.2 aluminum.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Prior experience in a welding supervisory role within a custom fabrication environment.
  • Experience in welding, fabrication, and fitting skills in both aluminum and steel.
  • Strong reasoning skills to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is an asset.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Monitor attendance and vacation schedules.
  • Inspire employees to meet production goals.
  • Supervise, train, and provide technical guidance to Welders.
  • Ensure compliance with approved welding procedures on the shop floor and in the field.
  • Plan, monitor, and resolve production processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Verify that welding procedures are current and approved by the CWB.
  • Maintain up-to-date welder certifications.
  • Ensure weld quality meets specified standards through final inspections.
  • Educate employees on company policies and quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation for Quality Performance Systems.
  • Be available for overtime as necessary to meet production demands.
  • Perform additional duties as required, with appropriate training provided.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position include standing, walking, talking, and hearing regularly. Occasional sitting and lifting/moving up to 50 lbs may be necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception. Safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection are mandatory during shifts.
