Role Overview: As a pivotal member of the Pride Bodies Ltd. team, a Wabtec Company, you will oversee a dedicated group of Welders. Your collaboration with fellow Supervisors and the Production Manager will be essential in meeting customer requirements and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and uphold the principles of Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork, and Leadership.
  • Drive production outcomes by clearly communicating job expectations, planning, assigning tasks, evaluating job performance, and providing coaching and accountability.
  • Foster a collaborative environment by engaging with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Purchasing, and Production.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Welding Supervisor (CWB W.47.1) is required or must be obtained.
  • Certification as a Welding Supervisor (CWB W.47.2) is required or must be obtained.
  • Proficient in welding with valid CWB certifications for both W.47.1 steel and W.47.2 aluminum.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and understand welding symbols.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a custom fabrication environment is essential.
  • Experience in welding, fabrication, and fitting skills for both aluminum and steel is necessary.
  • Strong reasoning skills to follow instructions in various formats.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is advantageous.

Daily Activities:

  • Monitor attendance and vacation schedules.
  • Inspire team members to achieve production targets.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to Welders.
  • Ensure compliance with approved welding procedures on the shop floor or in the field.
  • Plan, monitor, and troubleshoot processes to enhance efficiency; participate in meetings to relay production updates to management.
  • Verify that welding procedures are current and approved by the CWB.
  • Maintain up-to-date welder certifications.
  • Ensure weld quality meets specified standards; conduct final inspections on welded components.
  • Educate employees on company policies and quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation for Quality Performance Systems.
  • Be available for overtime as necessary to meet production demands.
  • Perform additional duties as required, with training provided as needed.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include regular standing, walking, talking, and hearing. Occasional sitting and lifting/moving of up to 50 lbs may be required. Vision capabilities include close vision and depth perception. Safety gear, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection, must be worn throughout the shift.
