Job Summary

This role reports to the Supervisor, Housekeeping & Laundry, providing laundry services to residents living in the home. The incumbent is responsible for washing soiled articles, ordering laundry supplies when needed, cleaning laundry equipment, and informing the Supervisor of any issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and process soiled linen and articles.
  • Weigh and document laundry results.
  • Wash and dry soiled articles.
  • Hang and fold laundered articles.
  • Press items as required.
  • Perform minor mending and repairs.
  • Deliver laundry services to resident home areas.
  • Differentiate between dry clean and water wash articles.
  • Update resident and linen lists.
  • Document missing and found actions.
  • Order laundry chemicals and supplies.
  • Monitor and confirm daily linen quotas.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and concerns.
  • Label personal effects of residents.
  • Clean laundry equipment and area.
  • Respond to priorities and emergencies.
  • Inform Supervisor of any issues or concerns.
Requirements
  • Possess a secondary school diploma and ability to operate laundry equipment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Understanding of Residents' Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards.
  • General knowledge of workplace safety and basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a laundry worker.
Working Conditions
  • The incumbent must be able to perform all necessary physical tasks, including lifting approximately 50 lbs.
Employment Conditions
  • Current Criminal Records Check and two-step tuberculosis test required.
