Job Summary

This role reports to the Supervisor, Housekeeping & Laundry, providing laundry services to residents living in the home. The incumbent must be able to perform all necessary physical tasks associated with the position, including lifting approximately 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and moving heavy materials, equipment, and boxes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and process soiled linen and articles.
  • Weigh articles and document results.
  • Wash and dry soiled articles.
  • Hang and fold laundered articles.
  • Press items as required.
  • Perform minor mending.
  • Deliver laundry services to resident home areas.
  • Update resident and number lists.
  • Document missing and found actions/returns from linen service.
  • Order laundry chemicals and supplies.
  • Monitor and confirm daily linen quotas.
  • Respond to customer inquiries.
  • Label personal effects of residents.
  • Clean laundry equipment and area.
  • Respond to priorities and emergencies.
  • Inform Supervisor of any issues.
Requirements
  • Possess a secondary school diploma and the ability to operate laundry equipment and prioritize tasks.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work both in a team and independently are required.
  • Must have an understanding of the Residents' Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
  • A general knowledge and understanding of workplace safety and basic computer skills are also required.
Working Conditions
  • The incumbent must be able to perform all necessary physical tasks associated with the position.
  • Current (obtained within the past six months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment.
  • Current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six months) by the first day of employment.
