Duties & Responsibilities
  • Sort and categorize soiled linen and articles.
  • Weigh articles and document results.
  • Wash and sanitize soiled articles.
  • Dry and fold laundered articles.
  • Hang and press items as required.
  • Perform minor mending and repairs.
  • Deliver laundry services to resident home areas and distribute articles accordingly.
  • Differentiate between dry clean and water wash articles.
  • Update resident and number lists.
  • Document missing and found actions and returns from linen service.
  • Order laundry chemicals and supplies.
  • Monitor and confirm daily linen quotas.
  • Respond to customer and client inquiries.
  • Label personal effects of residents.
  • Clean and maintain laundry equipment and area.
  • Respond to priorities and emergencies.
  • Inform Supervisor of any issues or concerns.
Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Possess a secondary school diploma and the ability to operate laundry equipment and prioritize tasks.
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Understanding of the Residents' Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
  • General knowledge and understanding of workplace safety and basic computer skills.

Preferred

  • Previous experience as a laundry worker.
Working/ Employment Conditions

Working Conditions

  • The incumbent must be able to perform all necessary physical tasks associated with the position, including lifting approximately 50 lbs., pushing, pulling, and moving heavy materials, equipment, and boxes.

Employment Conditions

  • Current (obtained within the past six months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment.
  • Current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six months) by the first day of employment.
