Position Overview

The role involves supporting the Department Manager in managing the daily operations of the backroom within the Produce Department. The execution of responsibilities must ensure a high-quality service approach towards all employees, customers, and suppliers. All tasks should be carried out in alignment with the principles of Farm Boy.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver exceptional customer service and uphold Farm Boy's vision of an unparalleled fresh shopping experience. Supervise the preparation, packaging, pricing, rotation, and quality assurance of produce items. Provide administrative assistance to the management team, including tracking shrinkage, managing supply inventory, and processing orders. Maintain cleanliness and safety in work, storage, and store areas by performing general housekeeping duties, including equipment maintenance and sanitation, sweeping, and mopping. Set a positive example by promoting corporate policies, customer service standards, and departmental cleanliness, as well as adhering to opening and closing procedures. Assist, relieve, and train department staff as needed by the management team. Adhere to all corporate policies, particularly those related to Health and Safety, Food Safety, and equipment usage. May be assigned additional related tasks on an occasional basis.

Required Qualifications

Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program, along with a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Clear and effective communication abilities, both written and verbal. Sound judgment and decision-making skills when interacting with customers and Farm Boy team members. Capability to learn both manual and automated systems/tools. Proficient in working in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks and maintaining a high level of performance. Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is considered an asset.

Work Environment:

Engaging with multiple individuals or departments while managing several simultaneous deadlines. Required to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts. Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy items.
