Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at School District #60 (Peace River North). As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and disinfect building interiors, fixtures, and windows, including garbage removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and wet mopping floors.
  • Perform minor maintenance on doors, windows, lamps, school furniture, and other fixtures.
  • Secure doors and windows in your area and ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Assist with seasonal clean-ups, including stripping, scrubbing, and waxing floors and washing walls, desks, and furniture.
  • Maintain and ensure tools and equipment are in good working order.
  • Follow proper safety rules and standards to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Requirements
  • Grade 10 or equivalency.
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial cleaning or school cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Ability to operate large, self-propelled auto scrubber and window cleaning equipment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle may be required.
  • Reading comprehension of written instructions and safety bulletins.
  • Ability to work with the public and be an integral part of a team.
  • WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period.
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment.
