Custodian - Casual Position

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at School District #60 (Peace River North). As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect building interiors, fixtures, and windows
  • Remove garbage, sweep, vacuum, and wet mop floors
  • Perform minor maintenance on doors, windows, lamps, school furniture, and other fixtures
  • Secure doors and windows in your area
  • Assist with seasonal clean-ups, including stripping, scrubbing, and waxing floors and washing walls, desks, and furniture
  • Maintain and ensure tools and equipment are in good working order
  • Follow proper safety rules and standards to ensure a safe and secure worksite
  • Assume the role of Head Custodian if needed

Requirements:

  • Grade 10 or equivalency
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial cleaning or school cleaning experience (preferred)
  • Ability to operate large, self-propelled auto scrubber and window cleaning equipment
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (may be required)
  • Reading comprehension of written instructions and safety bulletins
  • Ability to work with the public
  • Must be well-organized and able to work independently and set priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
  • WHMIS Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
  • Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
