Journalism Internship in Radio Reporting

The Toronto Star is seeking aspiring journalists for our Radio Room internship program. We welcome current post-secondary students to join our dynamic radio team.
Interns collaborate with experienced staff in a fast-paced yet supportive atmosphere. All internships at the Star are paid, contract roles.
About the Radio Room
Radio Room reporters conduct regular communications with emergency services and monitor various channels for breaking news. They deliver timely updates to the newsroom and may engage in original reporting across all Star platforms.
This role requires candidates to remain composed and organized in a bustling environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Interns must effectively communicate with officials and be prepared to conduct sensitive interviews with individuals affected by incidents.
The Radio Room operates 24/7, staffed by post-secondary students working eight-hour shifts. A group of interns is typically hired in late summer to work part-time during the academic year, while another group is recruited for summer positions.
A full, unrestricted Ontario driver's license is not a requirement for this role.
QualificationsIdeal Candidates

Candidates should bring fresh ideas and perspectives, along with robust reporting and writing skills, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately.

Compensation: $19.86 per hour.
