The Network Procurement division is on the lookout for a skilled Category Lead. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Network Procurement, this role requires expertise in software, hardware, infrastructure, and professional services relevant to wireline and optical transport networks. The successful candidate will be recognized by business partners as a key contributor in managing commercial strategies, total cost of ownership, and risk management associated with procurement activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for designated spend categories and projects to achieve procurement and organizational objectives.
  • Identify cost-saving targets for assigned categories/projects and drive reductions in total cost of ownership by leveraging Rogers' scale and standardization.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues within your designated categories.
  • Analyze spend data to uncover sourcing and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure that procurement cost-saving initiatives are integrated into capital and operating budgets, aligning efforts with budget expectations.
  • Track procurement projects and savings against established budgets and targets.
  • Engage in additional analytical activities, including compliance, catalogue adoption rates, and procurement metrics.
  • Cultivate relationships with key suppliers to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations and alignment with business partner needs.
  • Manage supplier issues and disputes, facilitating negotiations and settlement agreements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure that supplier performance meets business requirements.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, implementing innovations and automations to enhance procurement practices.
  • Uphold ethical procurement standards, compliance with policies, and objectives related to supplier social responsibility and sustainability.
  • Serve as an internal resource for business owners regarding sourcing practices, supplier performance, and risk management policies.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in business, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, telecommunications, finance, IT, or a related area.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities within the telecommunications or IT sectors is highly advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, listening, and influencing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to decision-makers.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Capability to navigate ambiguity and resolve conflicts effectively to drive decisions and achieve results.
  • Self-motivated and quick to grasp complex technical subjects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a professional demeanor and the ability to build relationships.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in analytical and problem-solving tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with Strategic Sourcing practices is a plus, though not mandatory.
