The Network Procurement division is on the lookout for a Procurement Category Specialist. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Network Procurement, this role requires expertise in software, hardware, infrastructure, and professional services related to wireline and optical transport networks. The successful candidate will be recognized by business partners as a key contributor in managing commercial strategies, total cost of ownership, and risk management associated with procurement activities.

As a candidate, you will possess a strong understanding of procurement policies and practices, with a proven track record of achieving CAPEX/OPEX savings targets through competitive bidding and contract negotiations. Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and relationship management experience will be essential in this role. You will be a creative thinker, adept at managing workloads, and championing innovation and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee assigned spend categories and projects to meet procurement and organizational objectives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities within assigned categories/projects and drive total cost reductions by leveraging Rogers' scale and standardization.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues.
  • Analyze spend data to uncover sourcing and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Ensure procurement cost-saving initiatives are integrated into capital and operating budgets.
  • Track procurement projects and savings against budgetary targets.
  • Engage in additional analytical activities, including compliance and procurement metrics.
  • Foster relationships with key suppliers to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Manage supplier issues and disputes, leading negotiations to resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement innovative procurement practices.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical procurement practices and supplier diversity programs.
  • Act as a resource for business owners on sourcing practices and risk management policies.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in business, engineering, computer science, math, or a related field is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, telecommunications, finance, or IT.
  • Experience managing multiple projects in the telecommunications or IT sectors is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills, with a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a quick understanding of complex technical topics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in analytical tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing practices is a plus.
