Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Dufferin Construction Company. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to meet company objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks, and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Investigate and report on safety incidents, near misses, and property damage incidents, and develop corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Provide training and coaching to employees and management on health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement safety protocols and procedures that align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for updates to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • University degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and acquired work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Valid driver's license (Class G or equivalent).
  • Sound knowledge of OH&S principles, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of business operating processes and procedures.
  • Sound working knowledge of provincial legislation and regulations (WSIA, OHSA).
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
