Your Opportunity:

The Emergency Mental Health Regularized Relief Team at Alberta Health Services provides exceptional mental health care for patients in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Our team offers comprehensive addiction and mental health assessment, short-term intervention, and treatment. We also coordinate community outpatient follow-up and facilitate admission when required.

Job Summary:

As a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RN/RPN), you will provide quality, holistic, specialized nursing care for adult patients with complex mental illnesses. You will provide safe, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, complete assessments, plans, and organize treatment/therapeutic interventions, document and evaluate interventions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability.
  • Teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership, superior problem solving, critical thinking skills and strong team building skills.
  • Interpersonal and de-escalation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities while working in a constantly dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of psychopharmacology, including current psychotropic medications and side effects.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Familiarity with Connect Care.
