Job Summary
The Mechanical Supervisor is a key member of the Rocky Mountaineer Operations and Mechanical team, responsible for overseeing the front-line skilled trades teams. This role requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with a focus on ensuring the safe and efficient operation of railway equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate a team of skilled trades workers to achieve operational goals and objectives
- Develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure the reliability and safety of railway equipment
- Collaborate with internal partners and external suppliers to resolve issues and improve processes
- Conduct safety and performance audits to identify areas for improvement
- Develop and execute training programs to ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge
- Manage workforce resources effectively to meet operational demands
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of progressive supervisory experience in a mechanical maintenance or construction environment
- Relevant mechanical or technical certifications or trade school education is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
- Qualification and/or proven knowledge in safe heavy equipment operations such as forklifts, cranes, etc.
- Previous qualification under CROR Operating Rules is an asset
Working Environment
- Occasional travel required
- Rail industrial site that requires walking and sitting throughout the day
- 24/7 operation that may require varied work schedules
- Indoor/outdoor working environment
