About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance and effectiveness of our financial policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute and monitor Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) plans to ensure financial risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
  • Utilize the ICFR program and other information sources to identify and address financial policy gaps and deficiencies.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure seamless financial reporting and compliance.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of existing internal controls over financial reporting and process documentation of internal controls and business processes.
  • Execute process and control testing plans, including sample testing and root cause analysis of deficiencies and gaps.
  • Monitor legislative compliance activities, including Executive Travel and Hospitality reporting, certificate compliance reporting, and other compliance activities.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Commerce required.
  • Minimum three to five years' experience in financial administration.
  • Experience in a healthcare or clinical setting is considered an asset.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, certification, and related experience may be considered.
  • Experience in internal controls considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications, including Excel.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and computing (such as SAP) system required.
  • A commitment to focusing on a culture that provides customer service above and beyond what is expected.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, SAP ERP experience considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset.
