Position Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role within our interprofessional healthcare team. Reporting to the Client Service Manager, the LPN conducts thorough client assessments and develops personalized care plans that address both physical and psychosocial needs. This role involves ongoing monitoring of client conditions to ensure optimal health outcomes and timely reporting of any changes to the Staff Nurse.
The LPN is responsible for administering prescribed medications, overseeing the medication delivery process by unregulated staff, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. The practice of the LPN encompasses the application of nursing knowledge, skills, and judgment to assess client needs and provide appropriate nursing care.
In alignment with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta's (CLPNA) Professional Practice Standards and Code of Ethics, as well as Carewest's Philosophy of Care and policies, this position upholds professional and ethical standards at all times. Demonstrating leadership is essential for success in this role.
Program Focus
Our Complex Care program is designed for frail seniors who require the support of an interdisciplinary team to enhance their quality of life in safe and nurturing environments. Carewest offers a blend of secured and unsecured units.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited LPN program
- Current and active registration with CLPNA
- Current Basic Life Support Provider CPR certification
Experience
- Preferred nursing experience
- Demonstrated leadership skills
