JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Service Specialist to contribute to our operations.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to impact our service delivery in the following ways:
· Execute repairs on engine systems within a workshop environment
· Conduct maintenance and repairs using diagnostic equipment
· Keep comprehensive records of serviced machinery
· Comply with Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental standards
· Engage in continuous learning and certifications on both new and existing Cummins technologies
· Maintain personal tools in good working condition
SUCCESS FACTORS
(Entry Level):
· Focused on routine maintenance or basic repair tasks
· Requires oversight and evaluation of work quality
(Intermediate Level):
· Capable of performing intricate internal engine repairs
· Conducts engine overhauls with minimal supervision
(Advanced Level):
· Proficient in troubleshooting with little to no assistance from diagnostic tools
· Handles larger, more complex engine rebuilds
· Provides mentorship to junior technicians, including technical guidance and documentation

Diagnostics application - Translating customer complaints into a troubleshooting plan; following guided workflows, procedures, and specialized equipment such as mechanical and electronic service tools to diagnose software issues and isolate faulty components for successful repairs; validating repairs by replicating complaints to ensure resolution; documenting troubleshooting results in business systems for payment and historical tracking.
Electronic service tool application - Identifying the necessary hardware and software tools for a service event; utilizing the appropriate electronic toolset to maintain products or diagnose and troubleshoot issues; interpreting electronic tool results or recommendations to determine subsequent steps for service resolution.
Product repair and maintenance - Repairing and maintaining mechanical/electrical products according to guidelines, using required tools within standard repair times to ensure quality repairs; disassembling and assembling engines or power generators following guidelines, using required tools to maintain a clean and organized workspace; inspecting and replacing parts and components following reuse guidelines to minimize customer ownership costs; performing progressive damage checks according to guidelines to restore equipment to pre-failure conditions.
Engine systems interactions - Analyzing the interactions of internal and external electrical and mechanical systems (exhaust, heating, cooling, fuel systems, driveline, aftertreatment, controls, sensors, etc.) by applying tools, service publications (Cummins, Original Equipment Manufacturer) and taking measurements to effectively and accurately diagnose and repair.
Health and safety fundamentals - Promoting and exemplifying proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting, and participating in actions to enhance health and safety, contributing to an injury-free workplace.
EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
EXPERIENCE
Basic level field service work experience
Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Customer service experience
Experience on mine sites is considered an asset.
This position will adhere to all terms and conditions set forth in the IUOE CBA. Shift schedule: 5X2 or 4X3, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend opportunities may be available.
Required: drivers abstract, motor vehicle history report, and Journeyperson Certificate.
