The Recreation Programmer – Aquatics position encompasses the coordination of operations at both our indoor aquatic facility and seasonal outdoor pool, alongside actively promoting our diverse range of program offerings.

You will have the opportunity to guide our committed staff and volunteers, engage in recruitment and training initiatives, and ensure a seamless experience for patrons.

This role requires a strong sense of independent judgment and action, while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Your contributions will be recognized and valued, with performance feedback aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and quality of the services we deliver.

Join us in crafting unforgettable aquatic experiences for our community. A completion of a post-secondary program in Recreation or a related field from a recognized institution, along with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.

Possessing a solid understanding of the principles, practices, objectives, and administration of aquatic recreation programs and events, particularly in lifeguarding and program instruction, is essential.

Knowledge of lifesaving theory, lifeguarding, first aid, and teaching techniques related to aquatics is crucial.

Familiarity with the rules, regulations, procedures, and policies governing the work performed, as well as modern office methods and procedures, is necessary.

Understanding pool chemistry, water filtration, chlorination, heating, and related pool equipment, along with maintenance requirements, is important.

The ability to participate in the recruitment, training, evaluation, and supervision of staff and volunteers, as well as assist in directing contract service partners, is required.

Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in the development, coordination, and implementation of programs and events are vital.

Strong skills in preparing oral and written reports, maintaining correspondence, records, reports, promotional materials, and performing related clerical tasks are essential.

Certification in Pool Operator Level 1 is required.
