Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Volunteer Coordinator. This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the volunteer program, ensuring that volunteers are engaged and utilized effectively to support the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support various programs and events
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase volunteer engagement and retention
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to ensure effective use of volunteer resources
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop volunteer opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, training, and other relevant information
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with organizational standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; related experience an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with volunteers or in a customer service role
  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army's programs and services
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
