Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Volunteer Program Coordinator. This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the volunteer program, ensuring that volunteers are engaged and utilized effectively to support the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and assignments to ensure effective use of volunteer time
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop volunteer opportunities
  • Develop and maintain volunteer recognition and appreciation programs
  • Manage volunteer databases and records to ensure accurate and up-to-date information
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High school diploma and minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Strong service ethic and friendly disposition with the public
  • Team-oriented and able to take initiative
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • High standards of integrity, judgment, and confidentiality
  • Effective communication skills
  • Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
  • Willingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Computer and word processing ability
  • Food Safe, CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
  • Knowledge and interest in the programs and services of The Salvation Army an asset
  • Successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Records Review Program
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
  • Current valid BC driver's license with clean driving record
  • Related diploma courses in field
