Job Overview

MDA Space is a leading provider of space-based solutions, and we are seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join our Finance Department in Richmond. As a Junior Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in supporting our project managers and senior accountants in financial and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate and timely project budgets for approval by project managers, business areas, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Develop fiscal performance forecasts for existing and planning projects, including gross revenue, contribution, and cash flow.
  • Produce monthly reports on cost trends, accounts receivable, milestone status, and budget updates.
  • Maintain and reconcile project cost reports, coordinate invoicing and billing schedules, and assist project managers in preparing project plans and progress reports.
  • Coordinate with finance and contracts departments to ensure financial instruments are up-to-date and reflect project requirements.
  • Responsible for project invoicing and billing, tracking commitments, purchases, and outstanding items, and arranging shipping and customs documentation.

Requirements

  • Business-related university degree or one year of related experience.
  • Experience with cost accounting is an asset.
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, initiative, and creativity.
  • Problem-solving and lateral thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage pressure and meet deadlines.

Special Considerations

  • Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGPO).

Salary

The compensation range for this position is $41,000 - $45,000 annually, based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
