Job Summary

MDA Space is seeking a highly skilled Junior Project Accountant to join our Finance Department in Richmond for a 14-month contract. As a key member of our team, you will provide financial and administrative support to Project Managers and senior Project Accountants, working on a portfolio of projects with varying sizes, revenues, and complexities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate accurate and timely project budgets for Project Manager/Business Area/Corporate approval
  • Prepare fiscal performance forecasts for existing and planning projects
  • Provide monthly reports on cost trends, accounts receivable, milestone status, and budget updates
  • Coordinate invoicing and billing schedules, and maintain project cost reports
  • Assist Project Managers in preparing project plans, progress reports, and other documents
  • Coordinate with Finance and Contracts departments to ensure financial instruments are up-to-date
  • Track and manage project commitments, purchases, and outstanding items

Requirements

  • Business-related university degree or one year of related experience
  • Experience with cost accounting an asset
  • Intermediate level computer skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of professionalism, initiative, and creativity
  • Problem-solving and lateral thinking skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills

Security Clearance

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass the Controlled Goods Program (CGPO) security assessment.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $41,000 - $45,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
