Job Overview
We are in search of a Vice President, Corporate Development to enhance our operations.
At People Corporation, our mission is to empower organizations to thrive. We are a nationwide provider of group benefits, health, wealth, and human resource consulting and administration. Our specialists deliver insightful guidance and tailored solutions that cater to the distinct requirements of Canadian businesses.
We are currently at a pivotal moment, ready to accelerate our growth through both organic strategies and mergers and acquisitions (M&A) as we broaden our expertise in the Property & Casualty Insurance sector. The VP, Corporate Development will be instrumental in this expansion by implementing our sourcing and business development strategies related to M&A activities.
Key Responsibilities of the Vice President, Corporate Development include:
Conducting comprehensive market analysis to pinpoint new firms for potential partnerships in the P&C and related sectors, particularly focusing on Ontario. Establishing connections with both existing leads and new prospects to build relationships, assess attractiveness, and determine the likelihood of transactions, while prioritizing leads for pursuit. Developing 'relationship strategies' to nurture connections with identified prospects through consistent follow-ups, ongoing communication, and relationship-building initiatives. Clearly articulating the advantages of collaborating with People Corporation to motivate new and existing prospects to engage in transactions. Maintaining an organized prospect database within our CRM, ensuring all relevant information is accurately recorded. Tracking key metrics on origination activities and providing regular updates to the Chief Corporate Development Officer. Collaborating with other members of People Corporation's leadership and professionals in the field (e.g., business leaders, sales management, and consultants) to advance origination efforts. Engaging in the assessment of potential prospects/transactions, including qualitative (e.g., strategic alignment and business risks/opportunities) and quantitative (e.g., valuation, financial analysis of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow items) evaluations. Participating in initial due diligence and internal discussions regarding transaction rationale, vendor preferences, expectations, and evaluations of the prospect's business. Providing ongoing relationship support throughout the transaction process while ensuring effective communication with the prospect to gather insights and feedback for the transaction team. Actively contributing to projects related to origination strategy, tactics, and operations.Qualifications for Success as the Vice President, Corporate Development:
A natural inclination towards building and networking; adept at sourcing and cultivating relationships with potential M&A prospects. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to customize messaging to resonate with various potential acquisition prospects, and the capability to determine the most effective communication methods and frequencies. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, with the agility to adapt quickly to changing demands; capable of adjusting workflows to accommodate practical time constraints. A collaborative team player demonstrating high levels of empathy and strong interpersonal skills. An entrepreneurial mindset, resourceful in approach, and self-driven; consistently committed to meeting deadlines.Ideal Candidates Will Possess:
10-15 years of experience in business development/sales with a proven track record in sourcing and closing deals. Previous experience in the P&C insurance/benefits, financial services, or professional services sectors. Familiarity with M&A processes or a keen interest in the M&A landscape, with the ability to explain the process to prospects. Experience in a high-growth organization.Benefits Offered:
Opportunity to learn alongside colleagues in one of Canada's most successful and active corporate development teams. Competitive compensation aligned with your performance metrics and opportunities to collaborate with and learn from senior executives and leaders across the organization. Make a meaningful impact on the ongoing growth of a leading organization in the industry. Comprehensive health and dental benefits. A retirement savings plan with employer contributions. A range of Health & Wellness offerings. Mental health support programs for you and your family. Assistance in achieving industry designations.
