Laboratory Analyst, Day Shifts

Role Overview
On-site | Seasonal | Entry Level
The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for executing a variety of laboratory tasks, both independently and collaboratively, which include sample analysis, laboratory upkeep, and data generation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate laboratory instruments according to established methods and procedures;
- Prepare samples, reagents, standards, and reference materials for testing;
- Conduct analyses on various sample types using laboratory equipment to provide precise results;
- Perform necessary data processing tasks including data entry, calculations, and documentation;
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair instruments and equipment as needed;
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely delivery of accurate results to clients;
- Make technical decisions for complex analyses or sample types;
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and consumables;
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and maintain strict quality assurance/quality control standards;
- Organize workload to meet turnaround times;
- Utilize appropriate methods in line with established procedures while ensuring analytical integrity;
- Comply with safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies;
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Candidate Profile:
- Proficient in English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
- Strong computer skills;
- Accurate and efficient data entry capabilities;
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced setting;
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
- Analytical mindset with critical thinking abilities in ambiguous situations;
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively;
- Strong work ethic and willingness to undertake diverse tasks;
- Commitment to excellence and a client-focused approach.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a related field (mandatory);
- One year of experience in an analytical laboratory or a related field (preferred);
- Previous experience with Metals ICPMS analysis (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs/14 kg regularly and carry short distances;
- Manual dexterity for intricate and repetitive tasks;
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required;
- Ability to stand for extended periods;
- Capability to perform general office work, including sedentary tasks;
- Exposure to unpleasant odors may occur.
