Laboratory Analyst, Day Shift

Role Overview

On-site | Seasonal | Entry Level

The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for executing a variety of laboratory tasks, both independently and collaboratively, which include conducting analyses, maintaining laboratory equipment, and generating reliable data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate laboratory instruments according to established methods and procedures;
  • Prepare samples, reagents, standards, and reference materials for testing;
  • Analyze diverse sample types using laboratory equipment to provide accurate results;
  • Conduct necessary data processing tasks, including data entry, calculations, and documentation;
  • Perform calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on instruments as needed;
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely delivery of results to clients;
  • Make technical decisions for complex analyses;
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies and consumables;
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and strict quality assurance/control protocols;
  • Organize workload to meet turnaround times;
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and ALS health and safety policies;
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proficient in English communication skills (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook);
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Accurate and efficient data entry capabilities;
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced setting;
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Analytical mindset with critical thinking abilities;
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively;
  • Strong work ethic and readiness to undertake diverse tasks;
  • Commitment to excellence and a client-focused approach.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a B.Sc. or Technical Diploma in Chemistry or a related field;
  • One year of experience in an analytical laboratory or a related field (preferred);
  • Familiarity with Metals ICPMS analysis (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs/14 kg regularly;
  • Manual dexterity for intricate and repetitive tasks;
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements;
  • Capability to stand for extended periods;
  • Ability to perform general office tasks, including occasional sedentary work;
  • Tolerance for potential unpleasant odors.
