Snowplow Operator, Highway Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Snowplow Operator to join our team at LaPrairie Works Inc. As a Snowplow Operator, you will be responsible for operating specialized winter equipment to clear local roads and maintain highway infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate snowplows, spreaders, and other winter maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner to clear roads and maintain highway infrastructure.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform routine maintenance, including minor repairs as needed.
  • Review and understand route maps and application rates to ensure effective winter maintenance operations.
  • Complete accurate hours of service records, safety reports, and fuel reports to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Observe and uphold health, safety, and environmental (HSE) fundamentals to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct pre- and post-inspection checks of equipment and track maintenance activities in a log book.
  • Report any equipment defects or maintenance issues to the Foreman/Superintendent.
  • Monitor and maintain equipment fuels and fluids to required specifications.
  • Track refueling and top-ups in the inspection log.
  • Prepare and submit necessary reports (daily, weekly, etc.) to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Participate in the compliance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman/Superintendent.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with off-road and winter driving.
  • Experience in highway maintenance activities, such as winter maintenance, surface repairs, roadside, and bridge maintenance.
  • Ability to work day/night shifts and be on-call.
  • Valid Class 1 or 3 license.
  • Driver's abstract in good standing.
  • First Aid Training.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
