About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Tailor to join our team at ASIYANS TEX AND GIFTWARE INC. as a key member of our production team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and create custom-made garments according to customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  • Alter and repair garments as needed to ensure a perfect fit.
  • Lay out, cut, sew, and press materials to create high-quality hats and other accessories.
  • Operate sewing machines and sew by hand to produce intricate designs and patterns.
  • Select and modify commercial patterns to meet customer and clothing manufacturer specifications.
  • Design patterns to fit individual measurements and create custom-fit garments.
  • Mark, cut, and sew fabric to create unique and stylish garments.
Work Experience
  • Alterations: Ensure garments are altered to meet customer specifications.
  • Repair: Repair garments to extend their lifespan and maintain quality.
  • Tailoring: Create custom-made garments using traditional tailoring techniques.
Support for Diverse Groups
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and/or refugees.
  • Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth.
  • Supports Veterans in translating their military skills and experience into the language of the civilian job market.
  • Facilitates access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
  • Provides workspace accommodations, such as age-appropriate ergonomic considerations, to meet the physical needs of mature workers.
  • Provides diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for members of visible minorities.
Work Environment
  • Permanent employment.
  • English is the primary language of communication.
  • 32 to 35 hours per week.
